WeScare for Hunger

Halloween Service Supporting Local Food Shelves
Posted on 11/22/2023

WeScare 1On Halloween, members of the East Central National Honor Society went trick-or-treating in Askov, Sandstone, and Bruno. Instead of asking for candy, individuals were asked if they were willing to donate any non-perishable food items that would be donated to the local food shelf. This was a great opportunity for the National Honor Society members to be active in the community, and provide for a need. We had an impressive turnout and some very supportive community members. In two hours, members collected 827 pounds of food. This is 51 more pounds than last year. We look forward to participating in WeScare for Hunger again in the following year. If your house was not visited, please feel free to take your donations to your local food shelf. Along with WeScare for Hunger, the National Honors Society also participated in a ‘track-or-treat’, originally supposed to be ‘trunk-or-treat’ but was moved to the inside track due to weather. Members dressed up and headed to the track with candy and decorations to hand out to the Elementary students. We saw many smiles and amazing costumes.WeScare 2
