2022 YOUTH CROSS COUNTRY

SPACE IS LIMITED TO 15 RUNNERS

Youth Cross Country is an opportunity for both boys and girls in grades 1st-6th to learn more about the sport of cross country.  Students will run as well as participate in strength and conditioning exercises and cross-training.  


Practices will occur on 

Tuesdays (August 30; September 6, 20, 27) from 3:20 pm-5:00 pm (meet in the foyer)

Saturdays (September 10, 17, 24; October 1)  from 10:00 am-11:00 am (meet at the entrance building at Banning State Park) 

**Please be sure your student is aware they will be running a lot.


Youth runners are invited to participate in cross country meets prior to the high school races.  See additional registration form for cross-country meet information. 

** Students can participate in youth cross country without needing to participate in the meets.

Students will need to wear comfortable running shoes and clothes (dress appropriately; if it is not raining, runners will be outside).

GRADES: Students entering grades 1-6 in the 2022-23 school year - BOYS AND GIRLS!!

COST: 20.00 first student, 16.00 second student this INCLUDES a t-shirt *To guarantee that t-shirts are received by the first meet, the last day to register is August 22, 2022.

Cross Country Meets:  We have been invited to 3 cross country meets to run prior to the high school students.  These races will be between .5 - .75 miles in length.  Parents are responsible for transporting their children to these races and notifying the school that they will be leaving early.  Make sure students have appropriate running clothes and shoes, along with a water bottle and snack (wear their cross country shirt they will receive!). Students are welcome to cheer on the high school runners afterward.  Tuesday, September 8 at Pine City, September 13 at Mora, & October 4 at Hinckley.  *Cross country meets are usually held at the golf courses within these cities.



2022 ELEMENTARY FOOTBALL CHEER
THIS CLASS IS FULL AS OF 7/5/22

Students will learn new cheers, jump techniques, and beginning stunts. They will cheer at a couple of football games and implement what they have learned at practice.

PRACTICE TIMES: BEFORE SCHOOL from 3:00-5:00 in the high school lunchroom August 22 - 25 and September 12 and 19 from 3:20-5:00 in the high school lunchroom.

GAMES: September 27 and Oct. 4,  ALSO Oct. 7 (Homecoming) - FRIDAY NIGHT

For games, elementary cheerleaders will meet in the foyer at 3:20 pm and cheer until 5:00 pm for all junior high games. 

For the Friday, October 7 game, we will meet at the football gate at 6:30 pm and cheer until halftime. Parents will need to pay to enter the game.

GRADES: Students entering grades K-6 for the 2022-22 school year. BOYS AND GIRLS

COST: $40.00 (if you need a 2021 shirt) $30.00 (cheer only, have new shirt)

REGISTRATION DEADLINE (this is important for shirt ordering, if you miss the deadline, shirts are not guaranteed): Thursday, August 4 by 4:00.

OTHER INFORMATION: The uniform for games will be the cheer shirt, black leggings, and tennis shoes.




SUMMER SWIM LESSONS

There will be four different sessions offered, all classes are being offered at least 2 times. All sessions consist of 8 dates.

Classes are LIMITED IN SIZE - so act fast if you know a session works for your family.

All of our WSI (Water Safety Instructors) are Red Cross certified.

COST: Preschool levels are $30.00; Learn To Swim (LTS) -- $40.00

Please make sure you get the correct session, swim level and time when enrolling.

Class level descriptions are listed on the last page of this packet. These are helpful if you are unsure of which class to select.

YES, summer rec and some sessions overlap. We cannot be choosy when offering lessons due to short staffing. Sorry.

If no one has enrolled in a class 5 days prior to the start, we may change the class offering, so if you are interested in a class, do not hesitate to register.

Learn To Swim (LTS) 

All WSI are Red Cross certified

LTS Level 1 (age 6 and up): Introduction to Water Skills Learn Basic water safety rules; how to use a life jacket; submerge mouth, nose and eyes; open eyes underwater and pick up a submerged object; swim on front and back using arm and leg actions; exhale underwater; float on front and back .

 

LTS Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills

Submerge entire head, glide on the front and back, tread water using arm and leg motions; bob in water, do a jellyfish float; swim using combined stroke on front and back

 

LTS Level 3: Stroke Development

Perform a reaching assist, submerge and retrieve an object, glide on front and back, back and front crawl, kneeling or standing dive; breathe side to side in horizontal position; survival float, back float; butterfly kick and body motion

 

LTS Level 4—Stroke Improvement

Develops confidence in the skills learned and improves other aquatic skills. • Headfirst entries from the side in compact and stride positions • Swim under water • Feet first surface dive • Survival swimming • Front crawl and backstroke open turns • Tread water using 2 different kicks • Front and back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke and butterfly • Flutter and dolphin kicks on back

 

LTS Level 5—Stroke Refinement

 Provides further coordination and refinement of strokes. • Shallow-angle dive from the side then glide and begin a front stroke • Tuck and pike surface dives, submerge completely • Front flip turn and backstroke flip turn while swimming • Front and back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke and butterfly • Sculling


LTS Level 6-Swimming and Skill Proficiency

Refine strokes so students swim them with more ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances; includes "menu options" - Personal Water Safety, Fitness Swimmer and Fundamentals of Diving


PRESCHOOL

Parent/Child, (6 months – 2 years) – Parents must accompany their child in the water. Bring your child and let them get acquainted with the water. Learn the proper hold for your child in the water and play lots of fun water games. This class will include advanced techniques for the preschooler. The Pool will hopefully be 83 degrees but, please bring a t-shirt along with for your (preschool) child to wear if the pool feels cooler. 

 

Level 1 – Water Exploration (2- 3 years) -Child will learn to enter/ exit water on your own, blow bubbles, fully submerge face, and experience supported floating and kicking. *****Your child will need to be in the water by themselves for this level, if they cannot do this, please register them in Parent/child.*****

 

Level 2 – Learn Primary Skills (3 – 4 years) -Learn to float without support and recover to a vertical position. Work on front and back glides.  Your child will need to be in the water by themselves for this level, if they cannot do this, please register them in Parent/child.

 

Level 3 – Learn Primary Skills (4 – 5 years) -Learn basic swimming propulsive skills. Learn to change direction, combine arm & leg actions on both front & back

 


The WSI Instructor may determine your child is better suited at another level; they will make that assessment on the first day of class.

2022-23 East Central Activities Fee

The Activities fee is required to play in all sports offered at the 7th - 12 grade level at East Central, this includes the following: Fall Sports: Cross Country, Volleyball, Football, Cheer Winter Sports: Basketball, Cheer, Hockey, One Act Spring Sports: Track, Baseball, Softball, Trap Shooting, Golf.

EAST CENTRAL STUDENT FEES

East Central has set the activities fee for all sports except trap shooting AND hockey as follows: $50.00/athlete per sport.

Hockey is $150.00/student. 

Trap Shooting is $105.00/student. (Plus an additional 35.00 fee paid to the Clay Pigeon Association. Your coach will contact you on the steps needed to enroll in this and the deadline to do so). 

If the athlete participates in two sports, the third sport is free.
TRAP AND HOCKEY DO NOT COUNT TOWARDS A FREE SPORT DUE TO INHERENT COSTS.

HARVEST CHRISTIAN STUDENTS (Grades 9-12) - $350.00

Grades 9-12 the fee is $350.00 per sport. The agreements between the EC and Harvest Christian stated the Harvest Christian SCHOOL would pay $300.00 of the fee and the Harvest Christian PARENTS would pay the additional $50.00.  

 

Grades 7-8 (Junior High). This fee is $50.00/student per sport. 
TRAP SHOOTING FEE FOR ALL HC GRADES: 405.00

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

You may now pay online with a card through Community Education.

NEW(2020-21): There is NOW AN ACH option as well for those who want to use their checking account.

ATHLETIC FEE IS DUE PRIOR TO THE FIRST PRACTICE OF THE SEASON - Students are unable to participate in any games until the fee has been received.

Be sure you also have your MSHSL form filled out for the year and your athlete's physical is up to date.
