Hi! My name is Megan Nelson and I am a first grade teacher at East Central Elementary. I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in both Hispanic Studies and International Studies from the University of Minnesota - Duluth in 2013 and had my oldest son later that same year. After some time away, I had the opportunity of translating for a spanish speaking student in the elementary school and LOVED it. This sparked me to go back to school to get my Teaching License in 2018 and my Master's Degree in 2019 both from the College of Saint Scholastica. I have taught a mix of 3rd grade and 1st grade since and have loved every minute of it.
I now have three boys, a wonderful husband, and LOVE spending as much time outside as possible. Each year we strive as a family to get 1000 hours outside. We have lots of animals (dogs, cats, chickens, horses, cows) and a HUGE garden in the summer. I love cooking and baking as much as I can from scratch and am always learning new things. I believe life is meant to be lived to the fullest!
