October 9th Update

Dear Families,

On Tuesday, October 6th I shared with you that our elementary school would be transitioning to its Hybrid Learning Model for grades K-6 beginning on Monday, October 19.

Yesterday, the District received clarifying guidance from MDE that our hybrid learning plan does not need to be as restrictive as their guidance suggested. According to an MDE spokesperson, hybrid learning models should allow a break from in-person learning during the regular school week, but the length of that break is not specified. Our school district believes our students need to be in school as much as possible. Therefore, we will make the following tweaks to our Elementary Hybrid model.....

Beginning on October 19: (revised from October 6)

  • Grades PreK-6 will attend school on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
  • Wednesdays will be a distance learning day for all students in the school district.
  • Childcare for children of critical workers will be available on Wednesdays. To register, email or call Kristi Zemke at [email protected] or (320)245-6000
  • No changes will be made to the Preschool schedule.
  • No changes will be made to the High School Hybrid Model at this time. High School students will continue to attend two days per week.
  • Hybrid Learning will be in place through October 30, unless we need to make changes sooner.

Calendar Change - There will still be no school on Wednesday, October 14 for elementary students. This is the day prior to fall break. This is now a planning day for elementary staff.

Meals for students when not at school - Families will need to sign up to receive meals for students on days they are not at school. Breakfast and Lunch will be provided. Meal distribution will occur via the bus routes on Wednesday each week for those that sign up. Please call the numbers below to be added to the list. The deadline to sign up is Monday, October 12 at Noon.

    Elementary - Amber Benner (320)245-6010
High School - Tricia Rodenborg (320)245-6016

REMINDER - If your child(ren) is feeling ill please keep them home from school, consider having them tested for COVID-19, and please call the school to let us know. Your cooperation is much appreciated.

We are working diligently to stay ahead of the most up-to-date guidance from MDE, MDH, CDC, and local public health. I apologize for any confusion this may cause, but we are excited to have elementary students at school more than we originally planned.

Sincerely,

ANDREW M. ALMOS
