November 19th Update

Dear Families,

Today I am saddened to share with you that East Central Schools will be extending districtwide distance learning through Monday, January 18th, 2021. COVID-19 case numbers are growing quickly in Pine County with a predicted case rate number of over 100 per 10,000 people next week. We know extending distance learning is a difficult thing for our students and families. School provides the place where students learn and grow in many ways, even beyond academic learning. The school environment is different right now but our commitment to helping students remains unchanged. If your child is struggling academically during distance learning please reach out to your child's teacher(s) and/or principal so we can make a plan to support your family.

Governor Walz announced last evening a four-week pause of organized sports in the state of Minnesota. This period begins at 11:59 pm Friday, November 20th, and runs through Friday, December 18. At the end of the day on Friday and until further notice, all extracurricular activities are on hold at East Central Schools. As soon as we are safely able and authorized to do so, we'll begin activities again. If COVID-19 is teaching us anything, it's that we can be flexible and resilient in times of uncertainty.

Take care,

ANDREW M. ALMOS
