November 16th HS Update

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Students,

As we look ahead to an extension in Distance Learning, I want to share some information with you. We want to make sure you have up to date information to ensure your child's success at school.

First, I would like to stress the importance of all students attending their class Zoom sessions. Starting Monday, November 16, 2020, student’s attendance will be taken each day during their regularly scheduled block classes. Students in grades 7, 8, and 9 need to attend each class on Monday and Tuesday. Students in grades 10, 11, and 12 need to attend each class on Thursday and Friday. These class Zoom sessions are REQUIRED. Students will also need to continue to connect with their advisory teacher on Wednesdays for attendance. The advisory teacher will review missing work, help students set work completion goals and connect on other individual needs. Attendance is still mandatory by state statute during distance learning, and will be tracked through attending Zoom sessions during their scheduled classes. If your child is going to miss any of the school day, please call Kayla Nelson at 320-245-6012 to inform the school of their absence and the reason for their absence.

Second, please be encouraging your students to complete all of their assignments. Grades are enhanced when students attend classes (Zoom) because students understand the content more fully. Students are expected to complete their assignments and will be graded on them accordingly. Unlike last spring, there will not be “bonus” points for attendance.

Third, students who were being provided mental health services through Therapeutic Services Agency (TSA) or Monarch Counseling Services while at school are still able to access those providers in a face to face model. If you are interested in mental health services and your student is not a current client, you can contact the high school office for more information.

Fourth, be sure to connect with the high school office if you wish to be added to the food distribution list. Students may sign up for daily breakfast and lunch delivery. Students do need to meet the school bus to receive their meals.

Lastly, If you need additional resources please call Tricia Rodenborg at 320-245-6016 or Stef Youngberg at 320-245-6015 and we will try to connect you with the resources needed for your student to have a successful school year.

Regards,

Stefanie Youngberg
