Winter Activities Update Jan 20th

East Central Parents/Guardians, Students, and Community:

I would like to start by saying “Thank You” for your continued patience and cooperation with our schools winter sport spectator practice.

As you’re aware, from an earlier message, many of our students fall under the distance learning model for curriculum at this time. February 15th is the day our full student body is scheduled to be back to in-person learning following the procedure of 3 grade levels at a time returning to school building levels. Unfortunately, until our students are back in the building spectators aren’t allowed to attend games to limit exposure to COVID-19 within the school; which could lead to a pause in our seasons if someone contracted the virus. This practice was enacted to assist in preventing any undue exposure and keeping our students and staff safe, as best we can. To that end, on Feb. 1, 2021 we will be welcoming back our 9th through 11th grade students to in-person learning. Those grades combined with our 7th and 8th grade classes, currently already back in the school building, encompass the majority of our student body. With that said, the decision has been made to allow East Central, active basketball roster member parents/guardians, to attend home games beginning on Feb. 1, 2021. This is a change from the original Feb. 15, 2021 date.

Procedures and Expectations for this are as follows:

  • Players must inform their coach of the individuals attending the home game 24 hours in advance. PARENTS / GUARDIANS ONLY. Each player will have the opportunity for 2 parents to attend, the exception will be those that have split families; they can acquire an additional ticket. If the names are not on the spectator list for that game they will not be allowed in to observe game.
  • At this time there will be no charge for admittance.
  • Parents must leave the school immediately after the game their child is participating in has concluded. There is to be no contact with player(s) after the game.
  • Masks are to be worn at all times upon entering and being present in the school.
  • There will be no concessions available
  • As normal, all school district policies are to be observed
  • Spectators (parents/guardians only) will be allowed in to the school 15 minutes prior to official game time.
  • Social distancing rules will be adhered to. If individuals don’t live under the same roof they must be, and maintain, a distance of 6 feet away from others. In addition, all spectators must remain at a minimum of 12 feet away from players and the playing surface.

Reminder: Conference schools don’t allow visiting team spectators. If we play a non-conference school that allows visiting team parents/guardians the coach will pass that info on to your child.

Keep in mind that this is all subject to change if COVID-19 case numbers in our area increase at an alarming rate from the point they’re currently at.

Thanks in advance for your understanding and cooperation. Looking forward to seeing you at our home games!
