January 7th Elem Update

Dear Elementary Families,

We are excited to have students returning to in-person learning at East Central Elementary. I hope your children are excited to get back to school, get into a routine and see their friends, we have missed them!

There is a roll-out to our coming back and we will be starting with Preschool, Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 6th grade returning on January 19. Two weeks later, on February 1st we will have students grades 3-5 return to school. We will be returning to our regular schedule five days a week, Wednesday will still be early dismissal at 2:30 pm. Grade 6 is an exception - they will return on the HS schedule, four days a week, Wednesday will be distant learning for grade 6 only.

In making this transition back to in person learning the PreK-2 & gr 6 staff have some planning days, January 14 & 15. Students in these grades will not have new classwork. Students are encouraged to finish up any late work during these days.

Grades 3 - 5 will continue to work through distance learning; completing assignments and attending zoom meetings with teachers. We will also be conducting a part of our winter benchmark testings, your child’s classroom teacher will keep you posted on these dates. Students in grades 3-5 will not have any new classwork on January 28 & 29 for the teachers to prepare for in person learning. Students will return to school full time on February 1, five days a week with Wednesday being an early dismissal day at 2:30 pm.

Students will still be required to wear face masks (Shields alone are not enough protection) and we will be social distancing students. The guidance for in person learning is that students will also wear their mask during PE class and outside at recess. We are still committed to keeping our students safe while on the bus and in the building.

It is very important that all of our children are still completing the online learning until they return to school full time. Attendance is taken every day and your child needs to be logging in, attending zoom and completing quality work. If a student is not turning in any work or submitting work that is not complete they will be marked absent. Please communicate with your child’s teacher so we can help problem solve and help your child be successful. If you are having technical difficulties be sure to let your child’s teacher know or the office and we can help.

Thank you for all of your help and cooperation. It is truly appreciated. We are very excited to get the students back in school and appreciate your support with the guidelines.

If you have any questions, please contact me.
