Hall of Fame
Mission Statement
It is our goal to recognize Sandstone, Askov and East Central
students that have distinguished themselves by their contributions in
their field of work/study, to their individual communities, and to
society as a whole. By providing these positive role models to our
current students, they will understand the positive impact ECHS has made
on individuals from our community in the past. This inspiration will
provide hope and relevance to our current students in their areas of
studies as well as extra-curricular opportunities.
Process
Each year the Hall of Fame committee will induct up to five
members to the Hall. The initial induction class will be twelve; four
graduates from each of the schools.
Category
Alumni/Former Student Contribution: This category will honor
former students of Sandstone, Askov and East Central Schools for their
contribution to society, for their academic achievements, and for
enhancing the reputation of our school. Former students must have been a
Sandstone, Askov or East Central student for at least two years and
graduated from one of the three schools. These nominees must be 25 years
of age to qualify for the Hall of Fame.
** The Hall of Fame
board has the right to waive qualification standards for nominees by
unanimous vote. The Hall of Fame will induct individuals posthumously.
Standards
There is a wide range of candidates for the Hall of Fame. The
committee will make the final decision on the number of inductees, and
on the reasoning of choice. The Hall of Fame is not established to
exclude individuals, but to honor them. Therefore, any induction choice
will be considered appropriate.
Nominations
Nomination forms will be available on the school website and in
the office. Anyone may submit a nomination form. All nominees must meet
the category listed above. A nomination form will be good for two
years. Download nomination form in a PDF format.
Hall of Fame committee
The committee has five voting members. Each committee member
serves for four years. The initial committee will have two members that
serve for three years, two that serve for four years to begin the
rotation. Applications to the committee will be generated by newspaper
and website. It will be preferred to have two members from each town
(Sandstone/Askov). Interested parties will be reviewed by student
council and reviewed and approved by school board. The principal, or
his/her designee, will serve as a non-voting member of the committee. In
addition, one staff member from the school will serve as the final
voting member. The school will house the history of applications and
nominations.
Nomination Process
Each board member will review the nomination forms. At the first
session, each board member will select five nominations for the board to
review. From this session, the board will take the selected nominations
for deeper review. At a second session, the board will discuss and vote
for selections to the Hall of Fame.
Hall of Fame
The Hall of Fame plaques will be located in the hallways of the
school. These plaques will be designed and fabricated by the Industrial
Technology classroom. Inductees will be given a certificate, and a
plaque will be placed on the hallway. The hallway plaque will include
year of induction, a graduation photo, the graduation year, school and
their degree. There will be a brief recognition event held in
conjunction with a school event.
The committee has the right to rescind Hall of Fame status at any time.
